His first book, "Menara Alom", was published in 1992 and is a collection of short stories; it is about how he saw the world during his childhood and youth. His next work is "Menara Kebangsaan", which was published in 1995 and is also about his experiences as a young adult in Indonesia during the Suharto era. The third book, "Menara Cinta", was published in 1996 and is about love and relationships, including his own experiences with women.
Hock's books have sold millions of copies around the world and have been translated into several languages such as Malay, English, Indonesian and Japanese.
